The short answer
A shop sign's price is set by facade area, letter height, depth and count, lighting type, facade condition, installation height, the electrical run and the licence requirements. Two signs of the same width can differ several-fold in price because one is lit raised letters on the building finish and the other is a flex-face box.
The regulations make the compliant option clear: raised letters with concealed lighting, no floodlights, no added backgrounds. Start from that option and compare quotes on it, not on the cheapest possible material.
The seven factors that set the price
- Total facade area in square metres: fascias are priced by area.
- Letter height, depth and count: letters are priced per linear metre or per letter.
- Lighting type: face-lit, halo or unlit, plus the number of LED modules and drivers.
- Condition of the existing facade and any preparation or removal of an old sign.
- Installation height and access: scaffold or boom lift.
- Length of the electrical run to the nearest supply.
- What the licence file requires, and the municipal fee tied to the sign's area and type.
Published Jeddah market ranges (context only)
The figures below are ranges published by other parties in the market, not Digital Way's prices; they are here so you know where a quote you receive sits. A guide published in Jeddah (July 2026) puts an acrylic-face lightbox at 500 to 1,100 SAR per square metre, cladding without letters at 180 to 450 SAR per square metre, lit raised letters at 450 to 1,200 SAR per linear metre, and a full shop facade at 6,000 to more than 25,000 SAR.
Our quote is built on your project's specification after a survey or after receiving the photo and measurements, not on these ranges.
Why the cheapest is not the compliant one
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing requirements state that the exterior shop sign is raised letters only, 80 cm high within the band between the two floors, lit from behind hollow letters, with no floodlights and no added backgrounds other than the building's finish. The guide's page of wrong examples shows box signs, floodlights and cladding backgrounds as violations.
The cheapest quote usually describes a flex-face box or floodlights: cheaper on day one, more expensive when removal or modification is demanded. Ask for the quote to state in writing that the design complies with the requirements.
Checklist before you request a quote
- A photo of the facade by day and one by night from the opposite pavement.
- Frontage width and the height of the band between the ground and first floor.
- The trade name and logo as registered in the CR, and the CR number.
- Whether the shop is on a street or inside a mall (for the landlord's criteria).
- The nearest power source for the sign.
- The date you need the sign by.
Municipal fees
The sign fee is computed inside the commercial licence in the official fee calculator on Balady, by sign type (instructional or advertising), area in square metres, activity and region. We do not publish unofficial figures; we size the sign to stay in the instructional class where possible and prepare its file with the correct dimensions.
