Illuminated and storefront signage in Jeddah
A complete storefront: fascia, lit letters or a lightbox, designed to read at night and pass the Amanah.

What it is and who it is for
Which option suits your site and Jeddah's climate
| Type | Best for | Lifespan and Jeddah climate | Lighting and finish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lit raised letters on the building finish | Street-facing shops, the compliant default | UV-stable acrylic with drain holes for Jeddah heat and humidity | Concealed LED modules inside the letters, IP65 drivers |
| ACP cladding fascia with raised letters | Facades that need a new finish, showrooms and warehouses | FR core outdoors (PE core indoors only), specified for dust and coastal salt | Face-lit or halo letters on the cladding |
| Cement board fascia, painted | Quiet architectural facades, cafes and small shops | Heat-stable, needs an exterior moisture-resistant paint | Separate lit letters |
| Acrylic-face lightbox | Inside malls and corridors, or an Amanah-approved design | Mostly interior; outdoors needs sealing and venting | Even backlighting with LED modules |
| Flex-face lightbox for very large spans | Large warehouse and showroom frontages where permitted | Tensioned face, inspect after dust storms | LED backlighting |

Questions clients ask before ordering
Can I have an illuminated box sign on my storefront?
Under the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing requirements the default exterior shop sign is raised letters with concealed lighting; any other design needs Amanah approval. We design the compliant option first and submit alternatives for approval if you want them.
What sign height is allowed?
80 cm letter height within the band between the ground and first floor, with 25 cm clear on each side of the frontage, per the ministry requirements. We measure the facade and fix the size on the drawing before fabrication.
What may the sign contain?
Only the trade name, the CR number and the logo as registered in the commercial registration. Promotional phrases and phone numbers are not accepted on the facade sign.
Can floodlights light the sign?
No, the requirements prohibit floodlights and require concealed lighting behind hollow letters. We use LED modules inside the letters with external, weather-protected drivers.
How long does a full storefront take?
It depends on the facade size, the electrical work and design approval; we confirm the timeline in the quote.
What determines the price of an illuminated sign?
Facade area, letter height and depth, letter count, lighting type, facade condition, installation height and the electrical run. Send a photo and the facade measurements for an itemised quote.
Is cladding allowed as a background for the letters?
The requirements prohibit added backgrounds other than the building's own finish, and show aluminium cladding as a non-compliant example. If cladding is the facade finish itself or the Amanah approves it in a submitted design, the situation differs; we clarify this at the site survey.
Will the lighting survive Jeddah's heat and humidity?
Yes, with IP67 LED modules, IP65 drivers and drain holes in the letters. Jeddah summers exceed 40 C with high humidity, so components are selected on that basis.
Does the service include the sign licence?
We prepare the sign file (drawing, dimensions, specifications) to Balady requirements; the licence is issued in the business owner's name within the commercial licence.
